My Most Wanted For Smash Bros Switch

e3 is less than a week away and I couldn’t be more excited, but mostly I am excited for Tuesdays Nintendo online video, where there is sure to be lots of exciting news, none more so than (hopefully) a good deal of information on the new smash bros game.

Many people still seem doubtful that this is a new game, but rather a port of the Wii U/3DS versions, which would be a huge let down after all the hype, so I seriously doubt it is. Plus when they initially announced it, they seemed to go out of their way to title the trailer “Nintendo Switch Super Smash Bros” instead of Super Smash Bros for Nintendo switch, which were how the Wii U and 3DS games were titled.

So anyway, there are thousands of characters people want to see appear in these games each time one comes out. Brawl gave me several characters I wanted added (Toon Link, Wolf, Sonic). After that game, anything seemed possible, especially since they added so many newcomers (though I think Little Mac was the only one added that I really wanted in 4…oh and Mega Man…and Shulk…k that one delivered too).

So here are some characters I would love to see…and no…Ridley and King K. Rool are not going to be on this list. I am not opposed to literally any character becoming playable, and honestly I get excited for any newcomer, even if I don’t know who they are, but I would be a tad more excited if these upcoming characters appear.

First and foremost, I would love to see every character that has been cut back in it, which means Snake, Wolf and especially the Ice Climbers, who were only cut because of the limitations of the 3DS. The only ones that don’t need to come back are Young Link, Toon Link is a perfect replacement and Pichu…cuz why?

And now onto the newcomers I would love to see.

Paper Mario (Paper Mario series obviously)

paper_mario_wii

I know, another Mario character, but he would just be so cool. With a ton of partners and sweet special moves to pull from, he could be a whole lot of fun.

Dark Samus (Metroid Prime series)

DarkSamus

Aside from looking cool, Dark Samus has an impressive array of powers and abilities, some of them demonstrated as an assist trophy in the last game. Now make it fully playable!

Simon Belmont (Castlevania series)

Simon_Belmont_-_01

This has been a third party character I’ve wanted for a while. His legacy on NES, his chain and special weapons all make him a great candidate for smash.

Sora (Kingdom Hearts series)

Sora_KHIII

I love Kingdom Hearts, so to see the main character in one of my favorite games of all time would be magical. Again, he has an enormous move set to pull from to make him a worthy adversary against Nintendo’s finest.

Luigi (Luigi’s Mansion)

luigi-s-mansion-luigis-mansion-32298744-560-576

Give Luigi a moveset based off his Mansion games. There is no need to have him a partial Mario clone anymore, though I was thrilled his final smash in 4 used the poltergust.

Sonic and Tails (Sonic series…duh)

sonic and tails

Instead of just Sonic, let these two be a team like the Ice Climbers, since in the Genesis games, they functioned in the exact way the Ice Climbers do now.

Viewtiful Joe (game with the same name)

Viewtiful_Joe

He’s awesome and has a nice, crazy moveset that would fit right in.

Wonder Red (Wonderful 101)

Wonder-Red

He is from the team that made Viewtiful Joe, so I guess I would rather see Red, for he is actually a Nintendo character. Maybe give him a combination of all the other wonder’s power which would give him a truly awesome moveset.

Dixie Kong (Donkey Kong Country Series)

dixie kong

Either as a team with Diddy or stand alone character, I want her.

Zero (Mega Man X series…not the Zero series look)

zero

I would love to have X, Mega Man and Zero all be in it, but hey, Zero would be a cool addition if I had to choose one, after Mega Man, that is.

And those are just some of my more hopefuls that came to mind right off the bat. Paper Mario is my most wanted for sure, ever since leading up to Brawl. Of course there are dozens more I would love to see in it too.

But I will not be disappointed with who they add, as long as there are very little cuts and plenty of additions, I will be thrilled.

Tournament of Hotties: Disney Princesses (Semi-Final)

Check out the first two rounds listed here, and without any time wasted, here’s the first match.

Ariel VS Jasmine

I don’t like fish. I don’t like the smell, the taste, pretty much anything about it. But this is one fish I would love to do both of those and I just would pretty much do anything to get my hands on this mermaid.

As you can see, she’s super hot drawn, but if she were a real person, would she be just as hot?

She would actually be hotter it seems.

And if you went to school with her, would she be hot?

‘gulp’ Sure would…

And if she was imprisoned by Jabba the Hutt…?

ariel_cosplay_mashup_by_maid_of_might_i_by_wbmstr-d8zfj00

Most certainly. No matter how you slice it, above ground or underwater, this princess is hot. Really, really hot. You would need to cool down in the ocean after an hour or two with her. And that’s a huge bonus, cuz the fun wouldn’t stop under the sea. She is quite literally the best of both worlds.

Now let’s take a look at Jasmine.

Crikey! Here is a woman that’s so hot, you don’t even need to see her as a real person.

She’s better than the real thing…maybe?

It’s a tough call honestly.

Oh, and Jabba seems to like her too…but can we really blame him?

So which of these scantily clad women is hotter? Ariel has huge points for wearing basically nothing, but Jasmine has a sexier look to her. It’s hard to choose, but it definitely is her.

Our second and final match in this round is between these nice pieces of royal booty.

Rapunzel VS Giselle

There aren’t too many pictures of her, but rest assured, she is a cutie, and her naive innocence is matched only by her hotness.

And if you’re really lucky, her kidnapper/adoptive mother can join in the fun.

Rapunzel's Mom

Giselle resembles Rapunzel quite a bit.

I think her hair is supposed to be red, but it always looks blond to me.

There aren’t many pictures of her either, but here’s a little something to show off her looks.

Both women are beautiful, but I really have to give it to Giselle. She is more mature looking, with a tall, slender, tight body that looks quite amazing to play around with.

Victor- Giselle

giselle_disney_little_mermaid_by_rebenke
What she looks like when visiting Ariel. Good time to be a fish when that happens…

Well folks, there you have it! Jasmine and Giselle, both very hot sounding names, will move on to the final. Only one will come out on top, and I hope it’s me…!

My Top 10 DS Games

A while back I listed my top 10 3DS games, so now I’m going to back up and give some love to its predecessor. I bought my DS very late in its lifespan. In fact, to my great annoyance, they announced the 3DS a few months after I bought it. So I don’t have all that many games for it, but  I still managed to nab 41 games for the handheld system, but only played 26 of them. The rest I will get to some day. So of those 26 I have played, which are my 10 favorite? I will also be listing the developer and year they were made.

While this is one of my least favorite Zelda games, it is still pretty fun. It makes good use of the touch/dual screen capabilities, which makes for some unique gameplay.

NewSuperMarioBrothers

New Super Mario Bros

Nintendo

2006

When they announced that for the first time in over a decade, Mario was going back to the side scrolling formula, I nearly crapped my pants. Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World are two of my all time favorite games, and are much better than the two 3D Mario games that were out at the time. I was never more excited for a game at that point in my life. Until they announced the title. I very much dislike the title, and when I finally played the game, I was severely disappointed. I was expecting a sequel to Super Mario World, but instead got a major regression of the series, so that it is merely a vastly updated version of the original Super Mario Bros. Despite my disappointment, it is still quite a solid platformer.

Well, well, well, here is an instance where Sonic beats his ultimate rival. I first played this in the prime of bad 3D Sonic games, and I hadn’t played a handheld Sonic since the Gamegear, so I didn’t really know what to expect. But what I found was quite a pleasant surprise. This is a great platformer that really takes advantage of what made the Genesis games so fun, while giving them major updates.

This really put a spin on the Kirby franchise, utilizing the DS’ capabilities in clever ways to deliver a brand new adventure for the lil’ pink puffball, and it worked very well.

To anyone who wanted to see Mario and Luigi team up with their newborn selves outside of a sports team or racing track finally got their wish with this game, and it did not disappoint. Hilarious storyline, fantastic and creative gameplay using both generations of brothers, it’s all here and it is wonderful.

The handheld games in this series are always trying out unique forms of gameplay and this one was no exception. It isn’t the best game in the series…far from it, but it is a really fun game nonetheless with a unique leveling system (if you can call it that) and it was the first game to actually advance the story past Kingdom Hearts II, which was the latest game, storywise, for half a decade.

heartgold-soulsilverPokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver

Game Freak/Nintendo

2010

Okay, okay, so this is technically two games, but since they are nearly the same game, I put them together. This duo is a remake of Gold and Silver, the first sequels in the Pokemon franchise. They also happened to be the last two games I played in the series, though I never owned them. I quickly lost interest in Pokemon after only owning and loving Red/Blue. I felt the series should have stayed with just 150 Pokemon and stopped following it soon after Gold and Silver came out. But then I decided, like 20 years later, to get back into it, and what a better place to start then with these two games? And boy was I glad I did!

These games are just like the Red and Blue versions I cherished so much…except better. More Pokemon are better, I soon found out. I love catching them all, and have put around 300-400 hours into both games collectively, catching all the Pokemon available to me, which is much more than the original Gold and Silver, since they added hundreds of Pokemon from the games that came out between the originals and these remakes. Because of these two, I am a Pokemon fan once more!

This game took the same mechanics and formula as Phantom Hourglass and managed to produce an immensely better game. Everything about it was so fun, especially riding around in a train. I very much enjoyed the story as well.

This turned the series into a mission based game, where you play as Sora’s Nobody, Roxas, carrying out missions for Organization XIII. It actually works pretty well for the setting and incredible storyline. It doesn’t advance the series at all, but instead bridges quite a few gaps, seeing as the game starts soon after Sora becomes a heartless in the first game, continues on during Chain of Memories and finally ends right when you wake up as Roxas in Kingdom Hearts II, thus finally answering that “wtf is going on?” question we all had the first time we played the second game. The game is also really, really fun, so thumbs up to that!

Ironically, this is the first game I played on my DS, so I guess it was all downhill after that. This game is just amazing. It is so creative, so entertaining, so unique, so unbelievably fun, that it completely destroys every other game on this list. Not only is this my favorite DS game, but it is one of my favorite games of all time. It’s that good.

My Top 10 3DS Games

I enjoy looking at top 10 lists, especially when they involve video games and such. It got me wondering what my top “whatever” are, so here I am, looking into my top 10 favorite Nintendo 3DS games. By my count, I have 68 3DS games, but of those 68, I have only played 45 of them, the rest are on my backlog. So of those 45 games, let’s see what my 10 favorite are.

This game took an interesting take on the New Super Mario Bros series, the focus being on collecting tons upon tons of coins, even including a few new power ups and items to help you. On top of that, it is a really great platformer that far surpasses the first New Super Mario Bros game for DS.

The fourth game in the unique RPG series is just as hilarious, creative and bizarre as the others. Mario has to jump into Luigi’s dreams to rescue some pillow people, and in the real world, the bros have their own mission to complete. The battle system is as fun as ever, with some really cool and creative attacks, especially in the dream world. A great game for the 3DS library.

The first numbered game in the Mario Kart series is also the first game to incorporate gliding and underwater driving, two nice additions. Tons of new and old tracks, carts, characters and other customization options make this the first handheld Mario Kart game that feels like a home console game.

PaperMarioStickerStar3DSBoxartFinalPaper Mario: Sticker Star

Intelligent Systems/Nintendo

2012

The first handheld Paper Mario game takes the series back to it’s roots, sort of, well actually not. It’s back to turn based action in any case. It now has a world map like Super Mario World, no doubt to cater to the quick, on the go play style of handheld games. To attack, you must collect stickers of all shapes and sizes, learning to balance the small, weak ones with the huge, powerful ones, for only so many can fit in your sticker book. You get more pages as the game progresses though. This makes for a lot of fun, and some of the stickers are very creative and entertaining. The only negative thing I can think of is this is one of those games that you never know where the heck you are going, and some of the puzzles are near impossible to figure out.

The 3D visuals for this style of graphics is remarkable as well. Paper Mario is a game that should never be played without 3D. Unfortunately this will likely be the only game to ever be graced with such wonders.

Am I living in the 90’s again? This game feels and plays exactly like Yoshi’s Island for SNES. And that…is a wonderful, wonderful thing. There is some new additions to the gameplay, differentiating it, but keeping the core mechanics the same. It is truly a great sequel to a masterpiece. The only thing bad about it is the name.

How could you ever go wrong? Combine those exciting elements with  great grid based RPG gameplay and you can’t at all. This game is fantastic in nearly every way. It also provides around 50 hours of gameplay, so prepare to immerse yourself in something amazing!

I was surprised how good this game was. It is a sequel to the beloved Link to the Past, and does everything that game did right and added it’s own unique twists as well, such as the ability to traverse the dungeons in any order and turning into some painting figure. The game is a complete masterpiece, just like its predecessor.

What do you get when you take one of the best games of all time and update it? Well, an updated version of one of the best games of all time, plus it’s now in the palm of your hand! With improved controls via the touchscreen and gyro sensors, along with updated visuals and other changes, Ocarina of Time has never looked or played so well.

kingdom hearts 3dKingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

Square Enix

2012

This game plays just like all the other great Kingdom Hearts games, but this time you get to switch between Sora and Riku while they each progress through their own separate campaigns. The game features tons of new worlds, enemies and allies, and a new fighting mechanic known as flow motion. And story wise, this game is one of the best in the series, mainly because it finally answers all the questions that you might have had from all the other games and finalizes everything out and leaves only one unopened door. That door being the long awaited Kingdom Hearts 3. Everything else has been settled and the game ends with setting the scene for the third and most likely final game in this specific story arc.

smash 3dsSuper Smash Bros for 3DS

Bandai Namco Games/Nintendo

2014

The fourth entry in the series proves to be the best, thanks to its huge and diverse roster of characters and stages. It is also a wonderful thing to have Smash in your pocket for whenever you wish to play it.

There are a ton of collectibles and trophies. The newest idea, and probably the worst, is the inclusion of somewhat different special moves for every original character, which is nice if that was something you were hoping to mess around with. The trouble is they are so tedious to collect. You will likely get the same ones 10 times over before getting one you don’t have. Aside from that, it’s the Smash Bros gameplay we all know and love. And to me, it’s all about the fighting, so the more characters and stages, the better the games. Who cares about all that single player fuzz? Though there is certainly a ton of it if that’s your thing.

This is the first Smash Bros game to include DLC as well. There are multiple characters and stages available, and countless Mii costumes, so the fun never stops.

There you have it, my favorite games in the 3Ds library, with Smash Bros being my favorite. Thanks for reading!
